How do you adapt to your telescope?

Over the years, Optec has developed dozens of adapters and custom fittings for various telescopes and mounts. Our most common telescope adapters are based upon a circular dovetail mount in three different sizes. 

• OPTEC-2400 mount - our standard 2.4-inch diameter circular dovetail mount
• Telescope Adapters for the TCF-S and IFW
• The OPTEC-2400 circular dovetail mount is used for the TCF-S focuser and IFW filter wheel to allow easy connections from most any telescope. If your scope or accessory is not listed, do not hesitate to call.
• OPTEC-3600 mount - our larger, 3.6-inch diameter circular dovetail mount
• Telescope Adapters for the TCF-S and IFW

• OPTEC-4300 mount - our newest, 4.3-inch diameter circular dovetail mount
• Telescope Adapters for the Gemini Focusing Rotator
• The OPTEC-4300 circular dovetail mount has been specially made to accommodate certain OEM low-profile versions of the TCF 3-inch series focuser bodies. These flush mount adapters allow the 3-inch drawtube of the TCF-S3 to pass inside the adapter for reduced overall length.  The new Gemini Focusing Rotator also uses this same dovetail standard for both telescope and camera side connections.

Generally, the OPTEC-2400 mount can be used to attach our 2-inch accessories such as the TCF-S and IFW. Likewise, the OPTEC-3600 mount can be used to attach our 3-inch accessories such as the TCF-S3 or Pyxis 3". The OPTEC-4300 mount is reserved for certain OEM TCF-S3 focusers and the Gemini Focusing Rotator.

OPTEC-3600 Dovetail Mount

Telescope Adapters for the TCF-S3", Pyxis 3" and IFW 3"

Optec 3.6" Dovetail Mount

The OPTEC-3600 circular dovetail mount is used for the large TCF-S3 focuser, Pyxis 3" rotator, the IFW-3" or the Perseus 4-port Instrument Selector. These mounts allow easy connections from most any telescope. One side has a telescope-specific thread or dovetail and the other side presents the 3.6-inch diameter Optec dovetail mount. #17820 - FLI PDF V-groove to OPTEC-3600 Dovetail Mount

The FLI PDF focuser uses three long cone point setscrews to connect to this adapter's V-groove.  The PDF has a 4.1-inch diameter, 1/4" deep pocket which this mount fits into.   This mount presents the OPTEC-3600 dovetail for attachment of any device with an OPTEC-3600 receiver.

A word of caution however, the stepper motor on the PDF is mounted very close to the pocket and protrudes almost 0.6" above the PDF body.  This adapter has been demonstrated to work with Optec's  3" Receiver Tube for the NGC316 telecompressor.
